Joule Group is delighted to have been shortlisted for the ‘Disruptor of the Year’ award at the Ulster Bank Great British & Northern Irish Entrepreneur Awards.
About the Award;
Disruptors are purpose-driven pioneers of change. This rare breed of entrepreneur is conspicuous for their modest talk and wealth of action; they pick up on the missed stitches in business to bring solutions that make our lives easier, faster and better connected.
Tenacious and analytical, innovators live outside the box and are guided by their entrepreneurial imagination. Free flowing ideas mean they naturally adapt to change and take the lead while doing so. They expect the unexpected and perceive opportunity in all facets of life.
The Disruptor of the Year will engender these attributes through unique alternatives that have improved their sector and disrupted the status quo.
In order to demonstrate our applicability for the award, we highlighted a number of unique aspects about the business;
Joule Group was set up in 2017 as a fire engineering firm initially based in Dubai and now we have moved our headquarters back to Northern Ireland where most of the team is based.
While there are numerous fire engineering firms around, we believe we are unique for a number of key reasons;
1. Global reach;
We now have offices in Belfast, Derry, Dubai and London. This rare global reach for a small company of only 16 people means we can follow our clients wherever they are in the world.
Our Dubai office means we can work across the Middle East and North Africa as well as explore the opportunities across Asia.
For example we are currently looking into business development activities in Canada, the USA, Singapore and India.
Our Northern Ireland office is where our headquarters is and this also serves as our technical excellence hub.
We draw on the local universities for their high quality fire engineering courses and have only just hired two interns to join us in our Northern Ireland offices.
We believe strongly that by using the local expertise not only benefits the firm but that it is crucial to enhance and give back to the communities in which we work.
Our recently opened London office is a proud moment for us.
It will serve to grow the business across the UK and also provide a base with which to cross pollinate our consulting and digital arms to the numerous large clients based in London.
2. Having two arms to the business; Digital and Consulting
While most fire engineers remain in their comfort zone of engineering, we always set out to disrupt our industry by becoming a truly digital organisation.
Our digital part of the business has already grown legs and we have just released our first digital platform called ‘Total Fire Solutions’.
The app and dashboard has already secured a few landmark projects and we are on course to rapidly grow this part of the business.
The solution, in a nutshell, is a digital fire safety inspection solution. It is a complete app-based inspection of the building or number of buildings in a few taps.
The platform monitor our client’s global estates from a cloud-based dashboard and boosts safety and efficiency with data-driven insights.
Why did we think we are a contender or this award?
Our ultimate motivation lies in the creation of a firm that saves lives and creates leaps in efficiencies through this unique blend of software and engineering.
