What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I love to travel; every chance I get I am travelling. I’ve been around Ireland, across Europe and the United States, but there’s many more places to check off the bucket list. My next destination is the Philippines, to experience the language, culture, the tropical landscape and the ancient volcanoes. Another hobby I have is water-sports, and throughout my travels I always make time to get in the water, go for a swim, a surf, a kayak and to try all the other water-sporting activities. I love to get downtime with my dogs and take them out for adventures with my family and friends.

Tell us about your top holiday destination?
My top holiday destination is Florida. With the brilliant weather and the tropical beaches there is always something new to do. Florida is full of adventure; from swimming with the dolphins and deep-water fishing to experiencing the most thrilling roller-coasters and waterslides. There is so much to experience, like the different cities of Miami and Tampa, the huge range of food and different restaurants, and the largest shopping malls with all the American brands.

What do you think the future holds for fire safety engineering?
Current fire solutions are backdated which makes the future for fire safety engineering limitless. Technology is constantly advancing, and I’m confident that soon fire safety will reach a point where there will be no more injuries from fire accidents. Joule Group are already making huge advances through design, providing consulting to minimise fire injuries in the built environment. Joule Group have also recognised the problems with current fire solutions, and are developing digital solutions to eliminate these problems. Soon fire safety compliance will be monitored, easier to carry out, and more widely understood which will reduce risks of fire injuries globally.
